WHAT DOES AJR STAND FOR
AJR is an American indie pop band founded by brothers Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met (formerly Metzger), collectively a trio of vocalists, multi-instrumentalists, and songwriters. They gained prominence in the music scene with their unique blend of pop, indie, and electronic sounds, along with their distinctive use of unconventional instruments such as the melodica and the toy piano.

How does AJR's career start?

The brothers grew up in New York City, primarily focused on busking and singing covers until releasing their first album, Living Room, on March 3, 2015. As of 2024, they have produced and released five studio albums under the independent label AJR Productions to various record labels.

AJR, originally known as TB, began busking in New York City parks on July 9, 2005. Before releasing original music, they posted cover videos of some popular songs on YouTube under the account name AJRbrothers. In 2017, Jack revealed that their cover of "Ho Hey" sparked the interest of pop star Shawn Mendes. In 2012, AJR self-released a limited edition EP of the same name. Later, Ryan tweeted a link to the video for their debut single "I'm Ready" and sent it to about 80 celebrities, including Sia. Sia told her manager about the song. "I'm Ready" was officially released on August 22, 2013. The song was certified platinum in the United States and triple platinum in Australia.

The brothers released an EP titled What Everyone's Thinking on September 16, 2016, which included the singles "I'm Not Famous" and "Weak". "Weak" was certified platinum in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and the United States, and has more than 250 million annual streams on Spotify.

Their second studio album "The Click" was released on June 9, 2017, and included the singles "Weak", "Drama" and "Sober Up". The album was released under the banner of AJR Productions. The band toured for the album in 2018, called "The Click Tour," and featured opening acts including Hundred Handed, Grizfolk, Ocean Park Standoff, and MAX.
